The Diploma in Languages is a part-time course that can be completed in conjunction with an ACU undergraduate degree. The course focuses on developing communicative language and intercultural communication skills through active practice.

The Diploma in Languages is designed for those intending to follow careers in international development, diplomacy, international business, public health, education, social services, government and non-government organisations, church ministry, and not-for-profit organisations.

The course is designed to provide students with a professional edge by adding Italian or Spanish to their skillset. As an ACU graduate with fluency in an additional language, students will position themselves for success in today's competitive global employment market.

Course Structure

To complete the Diploma in Languages, a student must complete 80 credit points. The course is part-time, and students take one language unit in any study period. Units are offered in Professional Term 1, Semester 1, and Semester 2.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must:

1. be enrolled in an ACU bachelor degree; or
2. have completed the equivalent of year 12 level with the ACU minimum eligibility rank for Diploma programs; or
3. have gained entry via an alternative pathway as approved by ACU.

International students need to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements as defined in the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.

English Language Requirements

Overall score: 6.0, with an individual score of 5.5 in all tests.

There are essential components of a course or unit that demonstrate the capabilities, knowledge, and skills to achieve the core learning outcomes of that course or unit.

Pathways

Pathways into the course for applicants with previous study and/or life experience include:

• Skills for Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT)
• Work experience, where a Selection Rank can be calculated based on documented experience and supporting documentation.

Fees

The average first-year fee for the Diploma in Languages is $2368 (CSP). A student's annual fee will vary depending on factors including the number of units studied per year, choice of major or specialisation, and elective units.
